New Yorkers step up in times of uncertainty. It happened after 9/11 and Hurricane Sandy, and we see the same in response to COVID-19. Since our relief efforts began, more than 8,400 volunteers have devoted 25,600 hours on nearly 1,200 projects. More than 803,000 meals have been distributed to New Yorkers in need. We're moving in-person programs like College Access and Citizenship Prep online and are adding new virtual opportunities. Volunteers will provide academic support and recreation for students learning at home, conduct wellness calls to homebound seniors, help NYC public school students in transitional housing with access to technology, and more.
And, we're just getting started.
