You have the power to make a difference by becoming a volunteer tutor through New York Cares’ partnership with Step Up Tutoring, a one-on-one online tutoring and mentorship program.
Tutors Make an Impact
During the 2025-2026 school year, New York Cares volunteers tutored 174 students through nearly 3,000 virtual sessions, helping students make meaningful gains in math and reading while building their confidence and love of learning.
It's Easy to Participate
Using Step Up Tutoring’s online platform and resources, you’ll meet virtually with a student for two 45-minute sessions each week, helping them strengthen their reading or math skills.
*No teaching experience required.

- You get to see your student’s confidence grow.
