This year marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and in observance of this milestone, we are honored to once again partner with 9/11 Day to organize the largest day of service ever staged in America.

Join us for a powerful four-day event aboard The Intrepid to turn a day of remembrance into action.

Together with organizations from across the city, we’ll help pack over 3,000,000 meals for New Yorkers facing food insecurity. More than 1,000 New York Cares volunteers will roll up their sleeves to make it happen—and we’d love for you to be one of them.

This is more than a volunteer event—it’s a tribute to unity, resilience, and compassion. Be part of something truly unforgettable.

Volunteer Roles

New York Cares volunteers support the meal-packing groups — you'll be part of the engine that keeps everything going, even though you won't be packing meals directly. No experience needed, but you should be comfortable with a physical, active project. You'll choose your day and shift, and pick from these roles:

📢 Table Captains

Orient volunteers as they arrive at the event, and oversee a set of packing tables staffed by 13 volunteers. This role involves walking or standing for the majority of the shift and lifting items of 25 lbs.

➡️ Event Support

Check-in and direct volunteers to their tables, pass out hairnets, and more. This role may involve walking or standing for extended periods.

💪 Heavy Lifter

Resupply meal packing tables and load boxes of meals onto pallets. This role involves walking or standing for most of the shift and lifting items of 50 lbs. or more.

Please note: Registration is first come, first served, and we’re unable to reserve spots. To register a group:

Non-Corporate Groups:

Register for 9/11 Day
Click “View Projects” to see all shifts and project descriptions.
Click “View Details” for more information about each project.
Once you’ve chosen your project and shift, select “Sign Up for Project” and complete the brief registration.
Click “Referral Link” to get a unique link for your teammates to sign up for the same project and shift. Note: This link ensures we know who’s volunteering with your team, so please make sure everyone uses it.
After registering, you can use your dashboard to view your projects or cancel if needed.

Corporate Groups:

Before registering, please email info@newyorkcares.org with your company name and the number of volunteers you hope to bring. We work closely with our partners at 9/11day.org to accommodate corporate groups.
