We are honored to once again partner with 9/11 Day for a powerful four-day event aboard The Intrepid to turn a day of remembrance into action.
Tuesday, September 8 - Thursday, September 11
Together with organizations from across the city, we’ll help pack 2,000,000 meals for New Yorkers facing food insecurity. More than 1,000 New York Cares volunteers will roll up their sleeves to make it happen—and we’d love for you to be one of them.
This is more than a volunteer event—it’s a tribute to unity, resilience, and compassion. Be part of something truly unforgettable.

Volunteer Roles
Note: New York Cares volunteers will support meal packing groups and are not directly packing meals.
🧢Table Captains
Orient volunteers as they arrive at the event, and oversee a set of packing tables staffed by 13 volunteers. This role involves walking or standing for the majority of the shift and lifting items of 25 lbs.
🧭 Event Support
Check-in and direct volunteers to their tables, pass out PPE, and more. This role may involve walking or standing for extended periods.
💪 Heavy Lifter
Resupply meal packing tables and load boxes of meals onto pallets. This role involves walking or standing for most of the shift and lifting items of 40 lbs. or more.
