Each year, New York Cares Team Leaders and volunteers help hundreds of students navigate college applications, prepare for the SAT, and access financial aid. You don’t need to be an expert to make an impact. We’ll provide the training, resources, and support you need to help a student take their next step toward college and beyond.

SAT Prep
Help students strengthen their math or English skills, build confidence, and prepare for test day. You'll work alongside high schoolers as they tackle practice questions, learn test-taking strategies, and discover what they're really capable of.
College Prep
Guide 12th graders through curated workshops on the college application process. You'll help them narrow down their college choices, complete applications, craft personal statements, secure letters of recommendation, and learn what to expect from college life.
Financial Aid Assistance
Completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is a critical step for students and families navigating the cost of college.
Through New York Cares’ Financial Aid Assistance Program, you'll support families at schools and community centers across New York City as they complete financial aid applications in the fall and understand and evaluate financial aid offers from colleges in the spring.
