Put NYC Students on the Path to College

A child's future rides on whether or not he or she attends and graduates from college, and, in New York City, statistics related to college attendance and preparation are alarming. For example, 23,000 students drop out of high school every year. NYC high schoolers score 131 points less on the SAT than the national average. More than 70% of the students who do attend college aren't ready.

TO BUILD A STRONGER CITY FOR ALL, WE NEED TO TURN THESE NUMBERS AROUND.

WITH YOUR HELP,
20,000 NYC STUDENTS
WILL HAVE A CHANCE
AT A BRIGHTER FUTURE.

NEW YORK CARES OFFERS A VARIETY OF WAYS TO WORK WITH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.

As a volunteer, you can participate in projects aimed to provide support at key junctures in every high school student's academic life. For example, our Sophomore Skills program improves literacy and math skills while preparing students for the rigorous tests and demands of junior year. We also run the largest free SAT prep course in NYC, increasing scores and opening up financial aid opportunities for kids who might not be able to afford expensive test prep classes.

We need more volunteers to meet the demand for these services and to be able to serve more NYC students. Click the options above to get started.
