New York Cares Coat Drive

Spreading warmth since 1987—one coat, meal, and connection at a time.

Warm up New York, inside and out.

Warmth has as many layers. Warmth means protection from the cold. Warmth means having access to a hot meal when you are hungry. Warmth means being treated with dignity. Warmth means so much more than a coat.

At New York Cares, we protect New Yorkers by distributing warm winter coats with care, but also by addressing essential needs such as hunger. In response to COVID-19, our volunteers have distributed more than 50 million meals to New Yorkers in need—that's 10x more than the year prior.

The Coat Drive is now closed

Thank you for helping us keep New Yorkers warm this winter. If you still have warm clothing to donate, visit DonateNYC to find agencies near you in need of coats and other items year-round.

Check back soon for an update on the tens of thousands of coats distributed this season and a special message of thanks from coat recipients.

I’ve always donated. I was raised on donations. Thrift stores carried my family through tough times. I’m not rich, but I’m happy and if I can make someone else happy then I’m coming full circle.
