In addition to physically running our programs, they are the human face behind every project, providing enthusiasm and encouragement to our volunteers. Team Leaders are an essential element to the 1,600 projects completed every month at New York Cares.

- Strengthen Your Job Applications: Leadership positions are available to everyone regardless of age or career level. Take advantage of our specialized trainings, which range from IRS Tax Preparation certification to American Red Cross CPR classes. Even if you’re not looking to gain an additional license, leading a project is a great way to try out a new professional path.
- Develop Leadership Skills: Serving as the point of contact for your volunteers, you’re well-placed to mentor individuals on your team. Practice your managing skills by building relationships with those who regularly come on projects. You can also develop your own programs based on your personal interests.
- Work with Great People: Volunteering offers opportunities to interact with people your might not normally meet. Through serving together in a common interest area, it’s easy to bond and network with your volunteers and fellow team leaders.
- Rework Your Routine: Recharge by taking kids to performing arts events, or walking dogs more regularly than you might otherwise. We also have a number of unusual opportunities, such as Lego Robotics for elementary school students and urban farming on the Staten Island Ferry terminal that need committed leaders.
