Meets pressing community needs by mobilizing caring New Yorkers in volunteer service.

Become a Sophomore Skills Tutor

Give high school students the academic skills they need to succeed to get into college on a Sophomore Skills tutoring project.

Prepare High School Sophomores for their Future

We need your support in helping NYC public high school students build their foundational skills in Math and English! The Sophomore Skills program is designed to provide intensive tutoring in math, reading, and writing, which helps students excel on the SAT and in their core classes. This year, over 60 volunteers at schools and community centers will empower over 200 students to improve their chances of getting into the college of their choice.

Join us this spring as we help students get a jump-start on making their dreams a reality!

Tutor Math and English this Spring

Projects start in March and continue through June (about 8-11 weeks total) and each weekly session is 2 hours long. We ask volunteers to commit to serving weekly for the full program duration. Projects will take place in person at a Community Partner site. Once registered, your Team Leader will provide further instructions on how to log in.

Volunteer recruitment for the program begins in the winter. For additional information, please email info@newyorkcares.org.
