I’m trying to access my account but am having trouble logging in. What should I do?

If you can't remember your log-in information (don’t worry, you’re not the first) or are getting an error message that says what you've entered is incorrect, click here to request an email with a link to reset your password. If your email address can't be found, it’s possible you set up your account using a different email. If your log-in information still isn't working send us an email at info@newyorkcares.org to let us know. 

I’m having trouble searching for projects. Where do I begin?

With hundreds of volunteer opportunities happening each month, you may not know where to begin. Start by visiting the search page to begin browsing project options by interest area, availability, and location. Still having trouble? Call our Project Sign Up hotline (212) 402-1103 to review project options with a staff member by phone.

My contact information recently changed. How do I update my account?

Thanks for keeping us in the loop! Once logged into your account, click on your name at the top right corner of the page to be taken to your My Profile page. Next, click the Edit tab to update basic contact information or account preferences. Once edited, be sure to click "Save" to update your changes.

The website is telling me I can’t sign up for projects, but I already went to orientation. What’s happening?

We’re glad to hear you’re ready to get out there and volunteer! If it's within a day or two of the orientation, it’s possible that your attendance has not been entered just yet. However, if it's been longer, there could be something else going on. If that’s the case, send us an email at info@newyorkcares.org.

I'm trying to create an account but am not from the US and therefore, don't have a US phone number or address. What should I do?

We welcome all volunteers – local and international alike, and would love to have you volunteer. But as you may have noticed, our website won’t accept international numbers in any of the phone fields. This is because we need a local number on file in case an emergency arises. Instead, we recommend listing someone in the area – maybe an acquaintance or friend in the US or your hotel or hostel’s number to ensure we have some way of reaching you in an emergency or last minute cancellation. 

What's the significance of the star icon next to project listings on the Search page?

Our website allows you to bookmark projects if an opportunity sounds interesting. Simply click the star icon and have the project added to the Bookmarked Projects section of your profile page.
