Meets pressing community needs by mobilizing caring New Yorkers in volunteer service.

FAFSA

Give students an opportunity to afford college by completing FAFSA training.

Help Students Afford College

Completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is a crucial step for teens and their families striving to make attending college a reality despite financial challenges. Through the FAFSA Prep Program, volunteers will help families at 50 schools and community centers throughout New York City complete their applications in time to make informed decisions about financial aid packages and college acceptances.

Volunteer When and Where You Can

The program requires a five to six-week commitment from October through early December, and teams will work at a different location each week. Teams are borough-specific and meet on either on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights from 6-9 p.m. or on Saturdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

You Don’t Need to be a Financial Aid Expert

Many of our successful Team Leaders and volunteers joined FAFSA Prep with little to no financial aid experience–reading and basic computer skills are all you need to get started. We have you covered with our comprehensive one-day training where you will be equipped with all the financial aid knowledge you will need. Express interest by signing up below and we will contact you when trainings become available. This one-time training provides an overview of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and teaches volunteers the skills they need to help low-income high school students and their families complete their financial aid forms.
