Volunteer Impact Program (VIP) | Staten Island

Targeted training to meet the needs of non-profits and community organizations. 

Thanks to the generous support of the Staten Island Foundation, New York Cares is offering our Volunteer Impact Program (VIP) for up to 15 Staten Island nonprofits from April 14th through June 2nd.

Accepted Staten Island nonprofits will participate in the Program at no cost to their organziation.

The Advanced VIP class cycle will run in the spring. All classes will take place on Tuesdays from 2:30pm-4:30pm at the office of the Staten Island Foundation. Program Overview

The Volunteer Impact Program is an intensive volunteer management training and consulting model developed by New York Cares to teach organizations how to leverage the power of volunteers to achieve mission-critical goals. The Volunteer Impact Program consists of two tracks – Beginner and Advanced – that each run for eight weeks. 

Both Tracks include web-based tutorials, interactive workshops, and assignments that adapt to the needs of each organization. Participants have the opportunity to work directly with New York Cares volunteer management experts on the implementation of strategies covered in the program. 

These sessions are geared specifically to organizations that want to build the foundation of a good volunteer management program and learn proven strategies to recruit, manage, and retain volunteers. In the Beginner Track, organizations master the core concepts of volunteer management and learn best practices to increase volunteer engagement and retention. In the Advanced Track, organizations strategically match volunteer roles to their mission and use data to measure the impact volunteers have on their programs. VIP graduates leave with actionable work plans and ongoing support from New York Cares to implement effective volunteer management strategies.

Each participating organization can invite up to two staff members to partake in either the Beginner or Advanced track.

Prior to starting VIP, organizations will have a phone conversation with New York Cares staff, and complete the Volunteer Management Diagnostic Tool, which analyzes your current volunteer management structure. All of this information will help us place you in either the Beginner or Advanced Track of VIP.
