Workshop Wizard with Uptown Stories

Workshop Wizard with Uptown Stories

Uptown Stories inspires kids to discover and develop their inner voices in a diverse community of writers. Based in upper Manhattan, they offer small-group writing workshops for children ages eight to fifteen, led by master teachers and professional authors. To ensure their workshops are accessible to all children, tuition is pay-what-you-can. Uptown Stories creates an exciting, challenging, and supportive community in which young authors thrive.

They are currently seeking Workshop Wizards to provide extra support to instructors in their creative writing workshops. Duties may include setting up workshop space and supplies, taking attendance, assisting students one-on-one or in small groups with their writing. Wizards also offer encouragement, actively engage with students, assist with activities, and under the instructor's supervision, assist with behavior management and supervision. They also distribute handouts and snacks, take photos and videos during workshop, and assist with the collection and organization of student writing in preparation for the reading and anthology produced at the end of the semester.
