Meets pressing community needs by mobilizing caring New Yorkers in volunteer service.

Because of the heat advisory for this weekend issued by NYC Emergency Management and the Health Department, select programming that may pose a risk to our volunteers and clients has been cancelled. Projects with partners who provide critical services will take place, but we encourage our volunteers to follow safety tips including drinking plenty of water and staying inside/out of the sun when possible. Please check your email for information on the status of specific projects. Thank you!

Urban Farming with Youth Farm

Help farmers grow fresh local produce for community members in need!

New York Cares' Farm to Pantry program connects volunteers to local farms to food pantries in needful communities, striving to increase access to fresh produce throughout NYC.

At Youth Farm, volunteers will work directly with professional farmers to assist with all farming aspects, from composting and weeding, to harvesting and processing crops to building benches and raised beds.

All helpers will also have the opportunity to learn from farm staff both informally and through occasional workshops.
