Unload and Pack Groceries for a Food Pantry

UJC serves as a coordinating body of neighborhood, secular, civic and fraternal organizations. Formed in 1971 by neighborhood leaders and residents, the UJC works to preserve and stabilize the Lower East Side of Manhattan community through the provision of a wide range of human services and community development programs. While the majority of programs are oriented to the needs of the elderly, UJC also operates a wide range of programs for families and children.

WHAT: Volunteers will support staff at UJC’s food pantry in the Lillian Wald Houses. You’ll assist with unloading food supplies from a truck and packing grocery items for client pick-up. Tasks include bending and lifting heavy materials. Volunteers must be 14+ years old to volunteer, and groups of volunteers 14-17 years old must be accompanied by adult guardian(s). No experience necessary, training is provided on site.

WHEN: Wednesday, January 20, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
