EConnected is a not-for-profit organization, offering academic support and instruction for elementary to high school level English Language Learners in New York City. Through their program, they provide individualized academic support to students as well as mentorship from tutors. Their program strives to create a sense of community among students, build students' confidence, and provide opportunities for development of English language skills.
WHAT: Volunteers will work with their assigned students 1:1 on Zoom weekly. They will support students' academic needs, particularly in developing English language proficiency, encourage and guide students, and serve as a mentor figure in their lives. Volunteers will also be asked to occasionally provide feedback to EConnected teachers regarding students' progress and check in with EConnected teachers for guidance and support on lesson plans/activities for students if needed.
Volunteers must be able to commit one hour throughout the week, be able to tutor students in English Language Arts (and other subjects if needed) and be committed, thoughtful, and passionate about helping youth. Volunteers are not required to speak another language, but it's certainly a plus.
WHERE: Entirely virtual
