Organization Mission?
Ecological City - Art & Climate Solutions Action Project applies the arts to engage and mobilize community action on local climate solution initiatives throughout the community gardens, neighborhood, and waterfront on the Lower East Side of New York City. Through Earth Celebrations' pioneering community-based arts and cultural organizing strategies, community participants take action on climate solutions and amplify the importance of these local efforts to the city and global climate challenges.
What will the Volunteers be doing?
Volunteers will be helping create and complete community-based arts projects: costumes, BioArts made of mycelium, and giant puppets. Volunteers will help with set up and creation. For their culminating pageants: the costumes that are created during the workshops are worn, they need volunteers to wear the spectacular costumes, display their puppets, and banners that address climate solutions for the Lower east side community.
What day and time will the project take place?
They need volunteers for their weekly workshops from March 4th until May 10th: Wednesdays 5-9 pm and Saturdays 11 am-4 pm. The pageant is on May 13th from 10 am until 5 pm. There are TWO shifts that day: 10 am-2 pm or 12-5p.
