ACTS Community Development works to meet the needs of low-income communities in Brooklyn, New York. Formed in 2002 by the Reverend Vince Fusco, his wife Susan Mirti-Fusco, and others connected with the New Jerusalem City Church, they operate primarily through the Lighthouse Mission in Coney Island, as well as Rachel’s Joy Maternity Home in Flatbush. The Lighthouse Mission provides emergency food aid, after-school activities for children, as well as other services and referrals to help move families beyond the soup kitchen, while Rachel’s Joy provides shelter and assistance to women and young parents experiencing homelessness and abuse.
