Safe House Volunteers at LifeWay Network

LifeWay Network joins the global movement against human trafficking by providing safe housing for women who have been trafficked and offering education about trafficking to the general public. LifeWay Network is committed to alleviating the suffering of victims of slavery, especially women in metropolitan New York and its surrounding counties.

They are currently seeking volunteers to provide shift coverage for staff in their safe housing program. Safe house volunteers provide a supportive presence for survivor guests as well as tutoring, mentoring, skills development.

Qualifications: Volunteers must be able to speak, read, and write English. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old. The ability to speak a language other than English is a plus.

Eligibility: Volunteers must complete an application, complete the interview process, provide three letters of reference, consent to background checks, complete trauma-informed volunteer orientation, and training provided by LifeWay Network. Volunteers must consent to the confidentiality agreement.

Volunteers should agree to at least 1 volunteer shift per month and ongoing time commitment.

Since its founding in 2007, LifeWay Network has collaborated with agencies and social service providers to find a new way of life for women trafficking survivors.
