Pantry Service at Sisters with Purpose

Sisters with Purpose is an organization dedicated to empowering women and their families by providing resources that will help them develop necessary skills to become engaged community participants. This mission is furthered through a community pantry serving traditional style pantry packages to families in need in the East New York neighborhood. Volunteers will sort canned and packaged goods for individuals and families in need and will assist with distribution.

Volunteers should:
• be able to work on their feet for the duration of the project (3 hours)
• be able to handle medium to heavy lifting (20-30 lbs)
• be able to utilize fine motor skills for tasks such as sorting vegetables

Sisters With Purpose, Inc. consists of professionals from the Central Brooklyn Community dedicated to sharing their skills and experiences. They implement programs that are designed to assist women and families negotiate systems and achieve self-reliance. Their mission is to offer their clients exceptional referral and consulting services. As part of their mission, Sisters with Purpose, Inc. runs a food pantry and a youth mentoring program called Pathways for Young Leaders. Pathways For Young Leaders assists youth in successfully navigating adolescence through mentoring, counseling, and advising, in areas including violence prevention, the establishment of healthy lifestyles and relationships, closing the digital gender gap, financial literacy, etiquette and social skills, and cultural enrichment.
