Pantry Prep at Masbia of Flatbush

Pantry Prep at Masbia of Flatbush

Volunteers will assist in assembling over 500 pantry packages for clients in need. Volunteers will sort and bag produce and pantry staples, and assist with hot meal service and dining hall clean-up as needed.

Masbia is a network of kosher soup kitchens in New York City. Its three locations in the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Borough Park and Midwood, and Rego Park, Queens, serve over 500 free, hot kosher meals nightly.

Volunteers should:
•be able to work on their feet for the duration of the project (3 hours)
•be able to handle medium to heavy lifting (20-30 lbs)

Founded in 2005, Masbia currently operates a network of four soup kitchens throughout Brooklyn and Queens. As New York’s only kosher soup kitchen they provide hundreds of hot, nutritious meals on a daily basis. In addition, their Weekend Take-Home Package program distributes supplemental packages of groceries every week. Masbia works to not only feed the hungry, but to provide free, wholesome, and delicious meals for people in a restaurant-style environment, with volunteer waiters serving each person with respect and dignity.
