One-on-One Reading Enrichment with Gigi's Playhouse

One-on-One Reading Enrichment with Gigi's Playhouse

GiGi’s Playhouse New York City opened in 2012 and provides a place to celebrate a Down syndrome diagnosis and gain the social and academic skills individuals with Down syndrome need in order to reach their potential and make a contribution to this great city.

They are currently seeking volunteers for their one-on-one Literacy Program, which builds a foundation in sight word recognition, vocabulary, comprehension and articulation through one-on-one literacy tutoring adapted to fit the learning style of individuals with Down syndrome. Volunteers would need to bring a connection to literature and an engaging presence, and each volunteer will be paired with a participant. Ideally the pair would meet for an hour 1-2 times each week.

WHERE:
GiGi's Playhouse NYC
106 West 117th Street
New York, NY 10026

WHEN:
Flexible based on volunteer and participant availability, but meetings will take place at least 1-2 times each week

TO APPLY:
If you are interested in this opportunity, please reach out to Benny Kaufman via email at bkaufman@gigisplayhouse.org or by phone at (646) 801-7529.
