Meal Service with Xavier Mission at The Church of St. Francis Xavier

St. Francis Xavier's Sunday Welcome Table is Manhattan's largest hot meal service, providing homemade lunches to more than 1800 New Yorkers in need. Join a team of over thirty volunteers to prepare the dining hall, register new clients, serve food and beverages, and clean plates and other clean-up tasks.

Please be reminded to arrive on time and check in directly with your Team Leader, as there are more than 100 volunteers and 6 Teams assisting with Sunday programs at Xavier.

Volunteers should:
• be able to work on their feet for the duration of the project (3 hours)
• be free of any infectious illness
• handle light to medium lifting (10-20 lbs)

The Xavier Mission is the community outreach arm of the St. Francis Xavier Church and is located in Chelsea. St. Francis Mission has a long history of service to those in need and seeks to welcome , serve and empower those in our New York City community who are in need of human and material support. The Xavier Mission meets pressing needs by providing food, clothing, shelter and life-skills training, and is guided by the Jesuit principle of advocating social justice. New York Cares volunteers help prepare and serve meals at The Welcome Table to an average of 725 guests each Sunday.
