Meal Preparation at The Church of the Village

Meal Preparation at The Church of the Village

Help the chefs slice and dice at Church of the Village soup kitchen, as they prepare a nutritious lunch for more than 300 New Yorkers in need each Saturday. Volunteers will also assist with dining room setup, kitchen cleanup, and client registration. Closed toed shoes required.

Volunteers should be prepared to:

•work on their feet for the duration of the project (2.5 hours)
•handle light to medium lifting (10-20 lbs)
•utilize fine motor skills for tasks such as vegetable chopping

The result of a merger in 2005 of three United Methodist congregations The Church of the Village is dynamic and full of spirit. Hope for our Neighbors in Need is one of the most important missions for their church members, who see the program as a key initiative to support Social Justice and Community Outreach. Along with short-term relief from hunger they provide their guests with information on available social services to help them break the cycle of poverty.
