Literacy and Math Tutoring at Henry Street Settlement

Tutor adult students in basic academic skills. Most students will be recent immigrants who need support with reading and writing English. Some will also need help with grade-school level math topics: multiplication, division, fractions, percentages.

All activities will be provided by the students' regular teacher. No bilingual skills necessary. Prior education experience would be helpful but is not required. This is a committed project on the following dates:

Ward, Henry Street Settlement is a not-for-profit arts and social service institution serving the people of New York City, especially Manhattan's Lower East Side. It's core mission is to challenge the effects of urban poverty by providing individuals and families with crucial social and cultural services. Each year, Henry Street reaches out to 100,000 people and serves 25,000 of them intensively.
