Holiday Decorations and Preparations with Actors Theatre Workshop

Holiday Decorations and Preparations with Actors Theatre Workshop

Help beautify Actors Theatre Workshop in preparation for their Annual Holiday Party for Homeless Children.

Volunteers will:
• Assemble and hang fresh Christmas garlands throughout our lobby and hallways
• Repair and hang Christmas lights around our lobby, hallways, studios and theater
• Securely install, decorate and drape a 5’ and 10’ Christmas tree
• Light cleaning - sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning windows and other surfaces, picking up and disposing of odd-shaped or odd-textured items that cannot be swept or vacuumed.
• Light lifting and climbing on a ladder or stepstool is required for much of this work.

Other possible tasks:
• Small repairs include tightening screws, using a hammer and nails or a staple gun to fasten items, for volunteers comfortable with using tools.
• Assigning and wrapping gifts for children if donations have arrived.
• Organizing of on-site equipment and supplies to create space for storing Christmas supplies and donations. This would include light lifting.
• Inventorying supplies that are on-site that will be used at the Children’s parties
• Purchasing supplies, if we run out. (ATW will provide cash for this.)

Other important info:
• The day’s events will be videotaped & photographed for our program documentation and communication purposes. We will distribute Video Releases to each volunteer when they arrive to review and sign.
• Participants must dress comfortably: sneakers / flat shoes and clothes they can move around in.
• Participants who sign-up should arrive at 11am and stay for the whole event, until 4pm. If a volunteer knows in advance of 12/2 that s/he cannot come or cannot stay for the whole event, we'd appreciate that s/he release their spot as soon as they know to allow someone who wants to stay for the whole event the opportunity to sign-up.
