Gigi's Playhouse NYC's mission is to improve the lives of all people with Down syndrome, from birth through adulthood, by providing them with the resources they need to apply to life’s challenges and achieve. They accomplish our mission by providing innovative, life-changing programs, at no cost to participants and their families. GiGi’s NYC’s programs and events empower people with Down syndrome to realize their fullest potential and build the skills necessary for success in school, work and their community. They openly recognize and celebrate their unique talents and achievements to honor their rightful place in the world, where they can contribute.
WHAT: Volunteers are needed to assist with summer programs. They need one-to-one volunteers to pair with participants and also need volunteers to work with a staff member to help oversee each day of programming (i.e. manage schedules, lead group outings, etc.).
WHEN: The first program begins on July 12th and runs for two weeks, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Help is needed on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Help is also needed on the first two and last two weeks of August on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in-person. The first two weeks of August would be from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and the last two would be from 9:30am to 12:30pm.
WHERE: All the volunteer support would be in-person at the Harlem Playhouse (106 W 117th St, New York, NY 10026)
