Harvest and Delivery with New Roots Community Farm

Harvest and Delivery with New Roots Community Farm

Help farmers deliver fresh locally grown produce to a local food pantry as part of our Farm to Pantry program.

New York Cares' Farm to Pantry program connects volunteers with local farms and food pantries to increase access to fresh produce to NYC communities in need.

The IRC's New Roots Community Farm enables refugee farmers and Bronx community members to grow their own food, share traditional recipes, build community, and increase food and green space access for NYC residents, local schools and partner organizations.

Volunteers will start the day at New Roots Community Farm, working directly with professional farmers to assist with harvesting and packing fresh produce from the farm. Volunteers will then transport the fresh produce a short distance on foot to a local pantry at Lantern Community Services.

This is a unique project that will allow volunteers to help create a strong and sustainable bond between the farm and the local pantry while delivering fresh food directly to a local pantry.
