Food Repack at New York Common Pantry Warehouse - Bronx

Work with a small team to build pallets, sort and organize incoming shipments of foodstuffs, and pack boxes of food to be distributed as part of New York Common Pantry's Nourish program. The volume of food will be large, and volunteers should expect to be lifting boxes, bags of fruits and vegetables, and may be using hand trucks outdoors in all weather conditions.
Volunteers should be:
• Comfortable lifting up to 30 lbs
• Able to load and manage hand trucks
• Prepared to go outside in all types of weather

Established in 1980, New York Common Pantry (NYCP) (formerly Yorkville Common Pantry) is one of the largest single-site community-based food pantries in New York City. Every year, NYCP provides over 600,000 meals to individuals and families throughout its neighborhood of East Harlem and the Upper East Side. NYCP strives to promote the dignity and self-sufficiency of homeless individuals. In addition to meeting its clients’ basic needs, NYCP offers counseling, medical care, nutrition education, and other services to achieve this mission.
