Because of the heat advisory for this weekend issued by NYC Emergency Management and the Health Department, select programming that may pose a risk to our volunteers and clients has been cancelled. Projects with partners who provide critical services will take place, but we encourage our volunteers to follow safety tips including drinking plenty of water and staying inside/out of the sun when possible. Provide warm conversation and hot nutritious restaurant style lunches to housebound seniors living in the Bronx. Citymeals-on-Wheels deliver on foot to clients who benefit from a daily lunch and a face-to-face visit. Volunteers must be able to:
• Walk approx. 5-10 blocks
• Carry approx. 5lbs of food
• Engage with seniors



Since 1981, Citymeals-On-Wheels has provided homebound, elderly individuals with nutritious meals and human company. Located in the Turtle Bay neighborhood of Manhattan, Citymeals-On-Wheels reaches elderly New Yorkers in all five boroughs. It is one of the largest meals-on-wheels programs in the United States, delivering nearly two million meals to over 17,000 seniors every year. As a continuous lifeline of food and companionship, Citymeals-On-Wheels aims to enable its clients to live with dignity in their own familiar homes and communities.
