Compost with Big Reuse at the NYC Compost Project LIC

Help keep food scraps out of landfills! Join the NYC Compost Project hosted by Big Reuse to volunteer at a large-scale urban composting site. Volunteers will help break up leaf bags, rake and tidy the site, bag compost, collect trash, clean bins, and other odd jobs.

Volunteers should wear close toed shoes, clothes they don't mind getting dirty, and prepare for cold weather. Some physical activities required (lifting up to 40 lbs bags of compost bags, bending, etc.)
