Get this soup kitchen back in tip top shape after its weekly Welcome Table, a meal service for nearly 2,000 clients. Volunteers provide a vital service by sweeping, mopping, washing down and putting away tables and chairs, and tidying up the kitchen and dining hall of Xavier Mission.

Volunteers should:
• be older than 14
• be able to work on their feet for the duration of the project (2.5 hours)

The Xavier Mission is the community outreach arm of the St. Francis Xavier Church and is located in Chelsea. St. Francis Mission has a long history of service to those in need and seeks to welcome , serve and empower those in our New York City community who are in need of human and material support. The Xavier Mission meets pressing needs by providing food, clothing, shelter and life-skills training, and is guided by the Jesuit principle of advocating social justice. New York Cares volunteers help prepare and serve meals at The Welcome Table to an average of 725 guests each Sunday.
