Classroom Assistance with Spoons Across America

Classroom Assistance with Spoons Across America

Spoons Across America,® the recipe for healthier children, is dedicated to educating children, teachers, and families about the benefits of healthy eating. They work to influence the eating habits of children through hands-on education that celebrates the connection to local farmers and the important tradition of sharing meals around the family table.

They are currently seeking volunteers to help out in the classroom and provide a mentoring role for children. After participating in a hands on training, volunteers are partnered with a Spoons Across America Educator and assist in all aspects of program implementation. Volunteer responsibilities include assisting with program set up, working directly with children, teaching cooking skills, and assisting in the kitchen where appropriate. Programs occur throughout the school year, in all 5 boroughs, and there are opportunities for an extended commitment as well as one-time opportunities.

- Participate in a training at the Spoons Across America offices (630 Ninth Ave @ 44th St in Manhattan). Upcoming trainings are Monday, January 21, 12:00-1:30 p.m. and Monday, January 28, 6:00-7:30 p.m. Contact for additional dates and times.
- Must complete a background check prior to the program date.
