Meets pressing community needs by mobilizing caring New Yorkers in volunteer service.

Because of the heat advisory for this weekend issued by NYC Emergency Management and the Health Department, select programming that may pose a risk to our volunteers and clients has been cancelled. Projects with partners who provide critical services will take place, but we encourage our volunteers to follow safety tips including drinking plenty of water and staying inside/out of the sun when possible. Please check your email for information on the status of specific projects. Thank you!

The pressure is on, grab your chef hats! Chopped is an interactive cooking competition for little chefs as part of our Food Explorers program. “Food Explorers” aims to develop healthy eating habits in elementary and middle school students and grants them the opportunity to make informed food decisions.

Volunteers will help with set-up/breakdown, preparing the mystery baskets, keeping cooking stations clean, and supporting with transitions.

New York Edge, previously Sports and Art in Schools Foundation, helps bridge the academic performance gap among under-achieving students by extending the school day and year with wholesome, skill-building activities designed to improve New York City children’s academic performance, health and wellness, attitude towards school, self-confidence, character and values, and opportunity for lifelong employment. They serve more than 20,000 students in over 150 public schools, and all of their programs are provided free of charge.
