Be A Support Advocate To Survivors Of Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence

Mount Sinai Beth Israel Victim Services mission is to provide quality compassionate supportive care to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence.

WHAT: Mount Sinai Beth Israel Victim Services Program is seeking compassionate, caring advocates to provide support to survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence in their Emergency Department after business hours and on weekends. These services are in person and Covid vaccine will be required.

REQUIREMENTS: Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, able to commit to one FULL year of service, sign up for THREE 12 hour shifts per month, and attend ALL sessions of the free, mandatory in-person and virtual training. All COVID safety measures will be observed.

WHEN: The following training sessions are mandatory:
- January 8th 10am-4pm (in-person)
- January 10th, 6pm - 9pm (virtual)
- January 18th, 6pm - 9pm (virtual)
- January 22nd, 10am - 4pm (in-person)
- January 23rd, 10am - 4pm (in-person)
- January 31st, 6pm 9pm (virtual)
- February 1st 6pm - 9pm (virtual)
- February 5th, 10am - 4pm (in-person)

Volunteers must then sign up for three shifts per month. Shift structure is as follows:
- Monday through Friday 7pm to 8am
- Saturday and Sunday 8am to 8pm
- Saturday and Sunday 8pm to 8am

WHERE: Mount Sinai Beth Israel Emergency Department at 16th street and 1st Avenue. Volunteers only go in to the Emergency Department if a case comes in, otherwise they must be reachable via phone.
