City Harvest pioneered food rescue in 1982. Today, more than 1 million New Yorkers are struggling to put meals on their tables. City Harvest will collect 59 million pounds of excess food this year and deliver it free of charge to 500 soup kitchens, food pantries and other community food programs across the five boroughs. To date, City Harvest has rescued and delivered over 600 million pounds of nutritious food for hungry New Yorkers.
