Assist an Adult with Disabilities For A Day

Helping Hands For the Disabled of NYC's mission is to help people with disabilities remain as independent as possible

WHAT: Volunteers will help an adult with disabilities with going to doctors' appointments, shopping, running errands, reading mail, and general companionship.

WHEN: Opportunities are available any day from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Helping Hands for the Disabled of NYC primarily works with persons who are 18 years or older who are blind. While they work with and serve persons of all disabilities, their primary focus group serves people who are blind. Their programs include a food pantry, an action line, a social program for disabled adults (movie night, restaurant club, trips), buddy programs, and a volunteer system of people who are willing to take persons to doctor's appointments or other 9-5 errands.
