We need volunteers to cover a number of different positions in order to make Cares Day happen. Each volunteer position is equally vital to the overall impact on schools and to ensure Cares Day goes off without a hitch. How will you choose to participate in Cares Day?
Join an existing team
This is the most common way of participating in New York Cares Day for Schools. Even though you can no longer create a team, you can still volunteer by searching for and joining an existing team.
Be a site captain
Lead the charge as we raise funds for education programs and revitalize public schools. As a Site Captain, you’ll work closely with New York Cares staff to plan and execute this large day of service, alongside teams of volunteers. Site Captains receive detailed information about their site, an interactive training, and on-going support to ensure each school is given a caring touch and refreshed look. Sign up to be a site captain!

Be a leader for an existing team
Represent a borough-based group of individual volunteers by acting as their leader and communicating important information before, during, and after the event. As a Borough-Based Team Leader, you’ll manage about 30 volunteers, delegate tasks, and empower your team to make the biggest possible impact on the lives of NYC students. Sign up to lead a team!
Be a registration leader
Welcome volunteer teams in the morning as a New York Cares ambassador by setting up registration, checking in teams, collecting donations, and handing out New York Cares Day for Schools t-shirts. End your day early after registration is complete, or stick around and join in the fun as a volunteer. Sign up to be a registration leader!
