Because of the heat advisory for this weekend issued by NYC Emergency Management and the Health Department, select programming that may pose a risk to our volunteers and clients has been cancelled. Projects with partners who provide critical services will take place, but we encourage our volunteers to follow safety tips including drinking plenty of water and staying inside/out of the sun when possible. Please check your email for information on the status of specific projects. Thank you!
Are you passionate about making the holidays warmer for communities in need in your own backyard? Do you thrive problem-solving and working with a tight-knit team?
Each year, New York Cares works with over 100 community partners, including homeless shelters, schools, and nonprofit organizations, to provide holiday gifts for children, teens, and seniors living in poverty, many of whom would not otherwise receive gifts during the holiday season. To accomplish this, New York Cares collects and screens more than 35,000 gift requests and sends them to volunteers who purchase, wrap and send the gifts to our partners. This year marks the 29th Anniversary of the Winter Wishes Program.
The Winter Wishes Seasonal Manager will help the New York Cares Education and Family Programs Department by assisting with data entry; creating and mailing event collateral; leading volunteers in various service programs, and completing administrative tasks as needed. This Seasonal Manager plays a large role in ensuring that all 35,000 children, teens & seniors participating in the Winter Wishes program receive gifts from New York Cares volunteers this holiday season. This position will run from July through January, and at least one Saturday work day will be required.
$18/hour (35 hours/week). This is a seasonal position that runs from August through December.
To apply, please submit a cover letter and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org with the title of the position in the subject line. New York Cares is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. Peace Corps & AmeriCorps alumni are encouraged to apply.
