Spring Intern, Volunteer Relations

Reporting to the Volunteer Relations Manager, the Spring Intern will play a key role in delivering high-quality customer service to volunteers, Community Partners, and a wide array of external audiences. The Spring Intern should be prepared to respond to inquiries by phone and email, troubleshoot technical difficulties with volunteers, draft service verification letters, send monthly recognition communications, and assist with other duties supporting the Volunteer Relations and Training team.

In addition, this role will include various efforts to engage, recognize, and strengthen all constituent experiences with New York Cares.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to phone and email inquiries regarding volunteer opportunities and organization-wide initiatives
  • Draft letters documenting volunteer service
  • Respond to external recruitment emails such as Volunteer Match and NYC Service
  • Assist in the production and sending of recognition communications
  • Research and assist with the development of new recognition strategies for highly engaged volunteers
  • Collect stories and perform interviews in the field
  • Perform ongoing data updates to volunteer records
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional and positive demeanor, both in-person and on the phone
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated commitment to volunteerism
  • Sense of humor

Salary

15-30 hours a week from January 2018 through May 2018. Schedule is flexible.
