Seasonal Coordinator

Reporting to the Officer, Community Partnership, the seasonal coordinator ensures that our volunteers are making a meaningful difference on the issues that the communities we serve face. New York Cares’ Community Relations department is primarily responsible for developing deeper and more collaborative relationships with the communities we serve to improve our impact. The department identifies, cultivates, and maintains relationships with community partners, clients, and volunteer liaisons to understand the needs of the community, and then use that understanding, in partnership with other departments, to create effective programming. The Seasonal Coordinator will:

  • Act as a liaison to our community partners by helping to request and document their program needs. They will work with the Community Partnership, Volunteer Relations and Event Operations teams to ensure that the community partner’s program requests are fulfilled, and programs launch successfully
  • Assist with managing the Partnership team’s work to support our community partner’s participation in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, which provides tax return preparation support to low-income taxpayers at no-cost, each year providing volunteers with resources to return millions of dollars to New Yorkers. They will also perform the same for our community partner’s participation in our Sophomore Skills program, which provides critical academic enrichment to High School students.


  • Prepare and organize materials for program launch
  • Creates and refines project management tools and trackers including Asana projects
  • Defines and maintains the project management structure via Asana
  • Ensures projects progress on time and schedule and facilitate meetings briefings with Community Partnership team
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Background or interest in volunteer management, community engagement, and/or economic empowerment
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional demeanor
  • Ability to be flexible, keep a sense of humor, and solve problems with confidence
  • Confidence in public speaking and presentation; responsive, and resolute when interfacing with external partners;
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect an ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated success in working as part of an integrated team and take on additional tasks as necessary and adjust to changing priorities;
  • Demonstrated commitment to community service and volunteerism;
  • A flexible schedule, including the ability to work late evenings, early mornings and weekends, as needed;
  • Local to the New York City area preferred but not required


$18- $20 per hour; This engagement is for a limited term of approximately 30 – 35 hours per week, from January – end of March.
