Manager, Impact

The Impact Manager will play an integral role in ensuring programs are responsive to needs in the community, and by gathering qualitative and quantitative data to document the impact of these programs, this individual will provide the organization with valuable information to educate and motivate volunteers. The Impact Manager will achieve this mission through several related functions.

The Impact Manager will work with programmatic staff to conduct primary and secondary research to gather information about the Community Partners with whom New York Cares provides programming, the communities they serve, and the issues addressed by programs. The Impact Manager will also manage the intake, needs assessment, and onboarding of prospective Community Partners and programming requests from existing Community Partners.

The individual in this role will work cross-departmentally to use the data and other information collected to educate and motivate volunteers. Additionally, the Impact Manager will use this information to advocate internally for programming that best responds to community need. In so doing, the Impact Manager will give voice to the communities served and provide input from these communities about their priorities.

This position is ideal for somebody with experience or interest in community organizing, partnership management, research, and program evaluation.  This position is in the Community Partner Relations & Evaluation department and will report to the department’s Associate Director. This is a new position.

Responsibilities

Gather information and collect data about Community Partners, community need, and programmatic impact

  • Utilize interviews, focus groups, surveys, and/or other quantitative and qualitative research methods with New York Cares community Partners
  • Perform desk research on communities served and issues addressed by programming
  • Conduct site visits with programmatic staff at Community Partner locations and attend community and other public meetings
  • Work with and support programmatic staff in researching the populations served by programming
  • Manage the intake, needs assessment, and onboarding of prospective Community Partners and programming requests from existing Community Partners

 

Use the information and data collected to motivate and educate volunteers and ensure programming is responsive

  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to provide contextual information to volunteers about their service, and to develop new ways to contextualize volunteers’ service, such as facilitated volunteer reflection or online discussion
  • Serve as an advocate internally for Community Partners and the communities they serve, supporting the organization in providing the most responsive and relevant programming it can
  • Provide staff with information about Community Partner needs and interests, and support staff in identifying potential Community Partners for programs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, in social sciences strongly preferred
  • Secondary research experience required, primary research experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with or demonstrated interest in community organizing and/or advocacy on behalf of vulnerable populations
  • Knowledge of local social issues and programmatic responses to them
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of audiences
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Ability to practice strategic thinking about organization wide initiatives
  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of research ethics and data confidentiality principles
  • Demonstrated commitment to volunteerism and service
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team
  • Strong background in MS Office and Salesforce, a plus
  • Spanish language proficiency, a plus

Salary

Starting salary range is $38,000 to $40,000 a year. We provide excellent benefits including comprehensive health insurance, 403(b) employer matching contributions, life insurance, and ample paid time off.
