Manager, Coat Drive Operations

Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, community organizations and coat suppliers have stepped up to make sure we can supply more new, high-quality coats while keeping everyone healthy and safe. For the first time, we’ll be shipping coats directly to partners and allowing them to place customized orders for new coats. As part of a seasonal unit, the Coat Drive Operations team provides top notch customer service to our recipient organizations and coat donors alike. The position requires strong customer service skills. If spreading acts of warmth and meeting immediate needs is your gig, this is the position for you.

Reporting to the Director, Immediate Needs & Public Spaces, as part of our Immediate Needs & Public Spaces department you’ll oversee a team of 2 responsible for the coordination of the delivery of new and used coats to our Community Partners and for linking coat donors to locations they can drop a clean coat.. You’ll be responsible for placing coat orders with our vendors, and ensuring we document our operations in this new iteration of our Coat Drive.

As the Coat Drive Operations Manager, you will:

  • Place orders with our vendors for new coats
  • Confirm new coat delivery logistics with partners
  • Guide the team in best practices of customer service
  • Manage challenging customer service engagements
  •  Manage the logistics for our distribution events, including updating the schedule of events, coordinating the delivery and pick up of New York Cares event related materials, and capturing stories & content from nonprofit partners


We seek a motivated team player who will take ownership of the Coat Drive operations process, distribute coats with enthusiasm and a commitment those we serve. Successful candidates will:

  • Have a demonstrated ability in coaching and guiding others in full-time or seasonal roles
  • Have a demonstrated ability in coordinating logistics as it relates to deliveries or events
  • Have a demonstrated ability in producing customer delight
  • Have basic computer and phone skills including familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Google Suite
  • Proactively identify potential challenges and provide meaningful solutions
  • A flexible schedule, including the ability to work occasional evenings, early mornings and weekends
  • AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply
