Meets pressing community needs by mobilizing caring New Yorkers in volunteer service.

Director of Volunteer Relations and Training

By developing programs that respond to pressing community needs, New York Cares provides a lifeline of support to the city’s most vulnerable residents. Founded over 30 years ago on the simple promise of giving everyone, no matter their circumstances in life, the ability to serve others, New York Cares now designs and runs nearly 20,000 projects a year at 1,110 nonprofits and schools across all five boroughs, engaging over 52,000 volunteers a year in service to 473,000 New Yorkers fighting structural inequality. The organization, once just an idea talked about among friends, is now a part of the fabric of NYC, and serves as a symbol of New Yorkers’ spirit.

New York Cares prides itself on a culture of excellence, defined by integrity, reliability, and professionalism. The organization has been awarded the 2009 New York Times Company Nonprofit Excellence Award, which recognizes outstanding management practices, and the 2010 Peter F. Drucker Award for Nonprofit Innovation. The NonProfit Times, Crain’s New York, the Princeton Review and The Wall Street Journal have recognized New York Cares as a top-notch employer.
