Corporate Relations Intern

New York Cares, the city’s leading volunteer management organization, seeks a results-driven intern to support its Corporate Relations team for the winter of 2020. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in corporate social responsibility corporate, foundation, and government fundraising, volunteerism, project management, and making a positive impact on New York City.

The Corporate Relations Intern will work closely with many of the city’s top corporations to complete service projects in the field, liaising with foundation and government funders, and developing strong administrative skills in the office.

Responsibilities

The Corporate Relations team creates and manages corporate service programs for approximately 150 corporate sponsors on over 700 projects throughout the year. The Corporate Relations Intern will report to a Corporate Service Manager and support the department by staffing corporate service projects throughout the city, researching and supporting relationships with foundation and government funders, and executing critical administrative tasks.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Maintaining project attendance and impact records;
  • Traveling all around the city to lead small groups of corporate volunteers;
  • Coordinating supply distribution and project logistics;
  • Researching prospective sponsors and funders;
  • Serving as an ambassador and advocate for New York Cares; and
  • Updating information in Salesforce database.

Qualifications

  • At least two years progress towards a Bachelor’s Degree (rising juniors and seniors preferred);
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience and interest in non-profit organizations, event planning, or volunteering;
  • Superior organizational and project management skills;
  • Ability to remain flexible in potentially unpredictable situations;
  • Capable of juggling multiple concurrent assignments and prioritizing them accordingly;
  • Broad-based computer skills (database experience a plus); and
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.

We are looking for an intern who can commit to a regular schedule of approximately 10-20 hours a week starting in mid-September. An unlimited use MetroCard for the NYC MTA transit system will be provided.

Salary

This is an unpaid position, but the intern will be provided an unlimited use NYC MTA MetroCard. You will also gain invaluable resume experience at a well-known NYC nonprofit! This internship can be completed for academic credit.
