Coordinator, Coat Drive Donor Relations

Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, community organizations and coat suppliers have stepped up to make sure New York Cares can supply more new, high-quality coats while keeping everyone healthy and safe as part of our long standing annual Coat Drive. As part of a seasonal unit, Coat Drive Coordinators provide top notch customer service to our recipient organizations and coat donors alike. The position requires strong customer service skills. If spreading acts of warmth and meeting immediate needs is your gig, this is the position for you.* Please note: this is a seasonal position from October 2020 – January 2021


Reporting to the Manager, Coat Drive, as part of our Immediate Needs & Public Spaces department you’ll be responsible for linking coat donors to locations they can drop a clean coat. You’ll use our online Drop Off Map to find a best match between the kind of coat a donor has or their location and a place that coat can find a home in the five boroughs.

As the Coat Drive Donor Relations Coordinator, you will:

  • Keep accurate records of all coat deliveries and provide updates related to our Coat Drop Off Map to your Coordinator Partner Relations counterpart
  • Provide excellent customer service to all Coat Drive coat donors
  • Set up and manage coat distribution events, including updating the schedule of events, coordinating the delivery and pick up of New York Cares event related materials, and capturing stories & content from nonprofit partners


We seek a motivated team player who connect others to ways to be impactful with enthusiasm and a commitment those we serve. Successful candidates will:

  • Have a demonstrated ability in producing customer delight
  • Have basic computer and phone skills including familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Google Suite
  • Proactively identify potential challenges and provide meaningful solutions
  • A flexible schedule, including the ability to work occasional evenings, early mornings and weekends
  • AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply
