Associate Director, Institutional Relations

A crucial member of the Institutional Relations team, the Associate Director of Institutional Relations, works with the corporate team on donor solicitation and stewardship efforts and deepening the prospective donor pipeline. In addition, the Associate Director, in partnership with the Director of Institutional Relations, and Program leadership, creates and updates solicitation strategies and materials. They manage our corporate donor databases, such as data reporting and analysis for the board, quarterly reporting etc. In addition, the Associate Director will work closely with the Director of Institutional Relations on New York Cares' overall corporate strategic planning.


  • Works closely with the Director, Institutional Relations to set and implement overall strategic direction to advance corporate proposal renewals and new solicitations
  • In partnership with the Director, advances equitable fundraising and funding practices by educating institutional supporters.
  • Maintain a personal portfolio of donors and prospects with specific financial goals, outreach, and solicitation strategies, and stewardship.
  • Project Lead in collaboration with Development consultant on moves management and reporting on stewardship to the corporate team
  • Collaborates with Finance to ensure payments are up to date and accurate with monthly credit card reconciliation, monthly KPI Reports, and monthly reconciliation with finance
  • Provide research and analysis on donor-giving patterns and implications.
  • In collaboration with the Director, Institutional Relations, he/she/they will have an internal-facing role with program staff to share update, trends and collaborate in identifying new innovative service and sponsorship projects.
  • Manage the overall corporate fundraising database systems processes to ensure portfolio management, prospective and reporting are up to date.
  • Works collaboratively with the leadership team to identify, plan and execute special fundraising strategies such as Community First Symposiums
  • Collaborate with Individual Giving team and Marketing and Communications on strategic avenues to expand corporate support
  • Other appropriately related projects/duties as assign


  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in donor and prospect research in a nonprofit fundraising environment.
  • Good organizational and administrative skills including the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills related to complex donor research.
  • Ability to think strategically, analytically and creatively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Experience using, Mailchimp, Apollo, and/or similar technical systems preferred.
  • Ability to work with highly sensitive, confidential information.


Starting salary is starting in the high 70’s- low 80’s. Salary is just one component of New York Cares total compensation package.
