Meets pressing community needs by mobilizing caring New Yorkers in volunteer service.

Meeting Immediate Needs

National Volunteer Week Immediate Needs Image

Approximately half of New York Cares volunteer programs are designed to bring companionship, dignity, and financial stability to New Yorkers facing isolation and hardships. These include many of our recurring projects working with New York’s seniors, homeless individuals, and other vulnerable populations; as well as annual initiatives like our Coat Drive and Winter Wishes programs.

If you believe that...

  • Everyone should have access to nutritious food near where they live, our urban farming and food assistance programs might be your perfect fit.

  • Senior citizens are valuable members of our communities, find projects where you can offer them care, companionship, and enrichment.

  • Low-income New Yorkers should have the knowledge and resources to maximize their earning and savings potential, we have exciting projects related to tax preparation and financial literacy.
