New York Cares Day for Schools is an annual day of service devoted to engaging community members in the revitalization of New York City public schools. On October 20, 2018, thousands of volunteers will work together to make schools across the city brighter, cleaner, and more inviting places to learn. New York Cares provides participating schools with volunteer teams, supplies, and overall support for the day.
Participating schools will be selected based on a number of criteria including, but not limited to the following:
Please note: due to limited capacity and past demand for this event, we invite select schools to apply. Our outreach efforts focus on need, current partners, and past New York Cares Day for Schools participants.
We continue to strive to capture the interest and needs of New York City schools, and we encourage you to visit our Nonprofits and Schools page to request future volunteer support or be put on our wait list to ensure we can reach out once programming becomes available.
For schools that have been invited to apply:
Step 1: Complete the New York Cares Day for Schools application by Friday, June 8, by using your school’s unique application link.
Step 2: New York Cares will review all applications on a rolling basis, and based on the criteria listed above, will schedule preliminary phone interviews with qualified schools.
Step 3: Applicants in consideration will be contacted for an on-site planning meeting to take place between June and August. The principal’s presence for some or all of this meeting is mandatory.
Step 4: All schools will be notified of their application status in August.
