Top 5 Projects for Valentine's Day

Volunteering is not only a great way to give back to your community, it's a great way to meet new people or spend time with those you're already close with. With Valentine's Day right around the corner, we've compiled the Top 5 Projects perfect for meeting a new love interest, and alternative volunteer dates where you can give back together.

1. How About We for Couples

HowAboutWe, a dating site for couples and singles where you can suggest dates based on activity, has been offering couples muck-out dates. So far, couples have gone on two muck-out projects and signed up for four more dates. There's no better way to get closer to your significant other than by lending a hand together. And lots of people know it! According to HowAboutWe, volunteering dates have higher-than-average response rates, even though they only account for a smaller percentage of total dates!

2. Sophomore Skills

Looking for a long-term commitment? Join our Sophomore Skills program and you'll tutor 10th graders every week so they can excel in the Regents exams, and the SAT. You'll see the same faces every week, so it's a great way to get to know other caring New Yorkers.

3. Get in the Garden

A bouquet of flowers will wilt, but revitalizing a garden will last until spring. Meet a fellow green thumb on a environmental project, and romance is sure to bloom.

4. Children's Recreation

Liking kids can make or break a relationship. You're sure to meet someone great with kids on a children's rec project. Sign up to cook, dance, play, and so much more with kids, and you're sure to meet someone looking for the same things you are.

5. Animal Care

Meet a fellow animal lover walking dogs or taking care of cats. Who knows - maybe cuddling animals will lead to cuddling humans?
